Dietary Guidance
The Dietary Guidelines for Americans provide a science-based blueprint for a healthy diet. The food guidance system, MyPyramid, provides tools that let people personalize the Guidelines to individual taste and nutrition goals.
Learn more about how the Guidelines and MyPyramid can help Americans make better food choices and live healthier lives:
Dairy in the Dietary Guidelines Experts suggest eating more nutrient-rich super foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains and dairy foods. The Guidelines recommend including at least 3 servings of dairy foods each day to ensure adequate consumption of important nutrients such as vitamin A, calcium, magnesium and potassium.
MyPyramid: How to Follow the Dietary Guidelines USDA's MyPyramid helps educate the public on positive diet and lifestyle choices, and NDC has developed complementary nutrition education materials to help people follow the Guidelines in their everyday lives. See how easy it is to incorporate 3 servings of dairy foods into your daily diet through helpful tips, a daily meal plan and more.
MyPyramid for Kids Learn more about USDA’s MyPyramid for Kids, a child-friendly version of the MyPyramid Food Guidance System. This version is intended to reach children 6 to 11 years old with targeted messages about the importance of making smart eating and physical activity choices.
